Topic: ClickOnce in the Real World
Click-Once deployment gives developers the opportunity to use the web or centralized file server as a means to deploy custom Windows applications. But what’s actually happening when you publish an application via the web? And what happens when the user installs and runs the application? This session quickly reviews the process of deploying an application with ClickOnce, focusing on what is placed where and what security mechanisms and configuration is involved, then will look beyond the demos at the files generated via the "Publish" wizards. We'll cover how to move ClickOnce applications from development machines onto production servers including the server configuration required and the modifications needed to your manifest files, and discuss versioning your ClickOnce applications to control who gets what version when. Come learn how to conquer the challenges of employing ClickOnce in real world enterprise environments.
Speaker: Michael Wiley
Michael Wiley works as a Software Engineer for Arkansas BlueCross BlueShield. He is the founder of the Little Rock .NET User Group (http://www.lrdnug.org), and served as its first President for 3 years, while also being a member of the South Central Developer Guidance Council. He assisted with the Birds of a Feather sessions at TechEd 2005, 2006 and again this year. He is also on the Board of Directors for INETA serving as Treasurer. He also helped create and organize the Tech Expo conferences (http://techexpo.lrdnug.org) as one of its co-founders. Michael has had a wide variety of experience in architechting, developing, and implementing business systems that run on Microsoft Windows. He has worked on projects for Accenture, Acxiom, Fidelity Investments, and Ibexone in his 12 years as an enterprise architect. Initially developing with C and Java, Michael now spends the majority of his time developing with the .NET Framework in VB.
